The Hampden District Attorney’s Office is working to keep local youth safe during their summer break. Staff members visited the Ludlow Boys & Girls Club Camp to provide direct instruction on online safety for approximately 130 children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Deputy Director of Community Safety and Outreach Gina Anselmo led the sessions. The curriculum featured two distinct approaches based on age. Younger campers in grades kindergarten through three participated in NetSmartz, which covers core concepts of digital and real-world safety. Older campers in grades four through eight focused on social media habits and online gaming interactions.
District Attorney Anthony Gulluni emphasized that digital risks persist even when school is not in session. Providing these resources ensures that children maintain healthy habits while they spend more time on their devices over the summer months.
These sessions are part of a broader set of outreach initiatives from the District Attorney’s office aimed at education and injury prevention. The office conducts these programs through partnerships with local schools and community organizations across Hampden County.
