Hundreds of homes near Walker are gaining access to reliable internet through a state-funded broadband program. Connect LA and Spectrum are partnering to expand service in Livingston Parish as part of an initiative to improve connectivity across the state.

The GUMBO program provides the financial support required to build this infrastructure. This effort is focused on reaching areas that currently lack sufficient high-speed internet options, ensuring residents have the tools necessary for modern communication and work.

Statewide, this program has provided broadband access to more than 49,000 locations. Out of that total, 41,000 are residential homes. The expansion near Walker continues the broader work of bridging the digital divide in Louisiana by directing resources to places that need them most.

Residents in the affected areas can expect these updates to provide more stable and faster internet speeds. This project is part of a sequence of investments aimed at modernizing infrastructure throughout the parish. Further details regarding availability and provider options will be managed by the companies involved in the rollout.
