The United States Department of Justice is hosting an internet safety event in Pensacola on August 20. The session aims to provide practical guidance to parents on how to protect children from online risks. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hadji Shriners Temple Director’s Staff Building on West Nine Mile Road.

Attorney John P. Heekin will lead the discussion, joined by officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations. Local law enforcement from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office will also participate to provide community perspective on digital security.

The session will cover core safety protocols and highlight the specific dangers children encounter on the web. Organizers intend for this outreach to serve as a resource for families in the Pensacola area to better understand current online threats and the preventive measures available to them.
