Spectrum recently reached a significant milestone in its network expansion efforts within Seminole County, Florida. The company has officially extended its service to more than 900 homes and local businesses, providing access to 1 Gig Internet speeds, alongside mobile, TV, and voice services.
This infrastructure project is part of a larger, multi-year initiative involving a $7 billion private investment from the firm. The broader plan aims to install over 100,000 miles of new fiber-optic network infrastructure across the country, eventually connecting more than 1.7 million locations that previously lacked high-speed options. Local officials and representatives noted the positive impact this infrastructure will have on regional economic growth and standard of living.
Beyond physical connectivity, Spectrum also focused on local digital literacy. The company awarded a $15,000 grant to the Christian Tech Center Ministries in Longwood during an event on August 6. This funding supports the organization's mission to provide digital education and training to students and families in the area. Andre Klass, founder of the Christian Tech Center, stated that the grant will allow the ministry to scale its current programs and offer more educational opportunities to residents.
Community leaders expressed strong support for the initiative. Seminole County Board of County Commissioners Chairwoman Andria Herr highlighted the importance of partnerships in closing the digital divide. Florida State Representative Rachel Plakon added that the increased reliability of high-speed Internet will assist families and small businesses in staying competitive. The expansion and grant support represent a concerted effort to improve both physical infrastructure and technical proficiency in the region.
