Free Spearfish internet safety talk for parents set for July 22 at Matthews Opera House

Parents and caregivers in Spearfish have an opportunity to learn about digital security during a free community presentation this coming week. The event titled Internet Safety for Children and Teens is scheduled for Wednesday July 22 at the Matthews Opera House. Doors for the session open at 6 p.m. with the main presentation running from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The featured speaker is Hollie Strand from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Her talk will cover the current digital landscape and common online risks that children and teenagers encounter today. She will also provide parents with practical tools to monitor activity and resources for teaching safe online habits.

While the event is free to attend, organizers require guests to reserve tickets in advance due to limited seating capacity. This presentation is intended for an adult audience and is not suitable for children. To accommodate families, a separate room will host child-friendly activities during the session. The event is hosted by the Matthews Opera House and sponsored by Hope for Tomorrow and Black Hills PEMF.
