I tried using the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s MyFanCam on my dogs, but I hit a major wall

The new Galaxy Z Fold 8 includes a feature called MyFanCam, which is designed to help users reframe videos by focusing on a specific subject. The tool is effective at tracking people during activities like dance routines, but my recent attempts to use it on my energetic dogs resulted in failure. The AI system currently lacks the ability to recognize non-human subjects, meaning it ignores pets entirely during the editing process.

I tested the feature on various clips, including footage from a few years ago. While the software successfully locked onto people, it consistently failed to identify my dogs as subjects for the AI tracking tool. This limitation highlights how the current version of the tool is strictly trained for human subjects, leaving pet owners without an easy way to stabilize or focus their home videos.

It is possible that the software was programmed this way because companies assume users primarily want to track their friends and family. Although it is frustrating, the feature still has potential for its intended purpose. I hope that a future software update or a new iteration of this AI will expand support to include our four-legged companions. Until then, you will have to stick to editing videos of people.
