Your iPhone Is Getting a Simple Yet Significant New Feature

Apple is addressing user frustration regarding the Liquid Glass feature introduced in iOS 26. While the original design aimed for a modern 3D depth effect on home screens and navigation bars, many users reported that the blurred or frosted aesthetic hindered legibility across various menus and apps. Apple initially provided patches to limit the transparency of certain elements, but a total removal of the effect remained unavailable to the public.

The upcoming release of iOS 27 brings a more direct solution. Apple is adding a dedicated Liquid Glass slider found within a new Appearance section in the Settings app. This tool allows owners to adjust the visual intensity of the Liquid Glass effect, ranging from ultra-clear to fully tinted. This gives users granular control over their screen interface rather than forcing a single design standard.

Beyond the new slider, the Appearance tab now houses settings previously tucked away in Display and Brightness, including light and dark mode toggles and text sizing options. Apple also tweaked app icons to provide sharper definition for improved readability. These changes signal a shift toward user-driven interface preferences.

The official rollout for iOS 27 is scheduled for September, supporting all devices from the iPhone 11 and newer. Those interested in testing the adjustments before the public launch can access the software through the current public beta program. This change confirms that while Apple intends to keep its visual design language, the company acknowledges the necessity for functional customization.
