Samsung has increased production of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 by one million units following a surge in pre-order demand. This reflects a shift in who is buying the device compared to earlier models. Market data indicates that interest is growing among younger demographics, particularly women in their teens to 30s.
Historically, the foldable series appealed primarily to middle-aged men focused on productivity. The new, wider design of the Z Fold 8 changes that image. It is now positioned as a tool for general content consumption and daily use, which appears to resonate with a broader audience.
In South Korea, over half of online buyers are now in the 18 to 39 age range. Among this group, purchases by women have more than doubled compared to previous releases. This indicates the foldable category is moving toward the mainstream rather than remaining a niche for power users.
The company is responding to these trends by expanding supply chains to maintain availability. As the foldable market matures, the design shift toward a more standard smartphone width is a primary factor in this growth. Analysts note that customers now expect high-quality hardware that fits into a casual lifestyle.
