Honor reveals ROBOT PHONE 200MP camera and imaging chip details
Honor has officially pulled back the curtain on the camera hardware for its upcoming device, the Robot Phone, during its latest imaging technology event. The standout feature is a 200MP primary sensor built into a three-axis gimbal system. This setup uses a 1/1.28-inch format and an f/1.6 aperture to capture high-detail images. Supporting this main sensor are a 50MP ultra-wide lens and an additional 200MP periscope telephoto lens.
At the core of these imaging improvements is the new Yuguang H1 chip. This custom processor connects directly to the gimbal motor, which weighs only 2.6 grams. Honor claims this motor is 65 percent smaller than current industry standards while delivering 35 percent higher torque density for smoother mechanical movement. The hardware is tuned to provide consistent stability across all shooting angles.
Beyond mechanical hardware, Honor has integrated software solutions to manage image quality. The device features real-time processing for white balance, tone, and exposure, alongside the AiMAGE 2.0 system designed to maintain clarity during movement. The company also announced a collaboration with ARRI to bring Log-C video encoding and professional LUT color grading to the device.
These additions are intended to provide cinema-grade video recording capabilities for mobile users. With the device launch scheduled for August 12, the focus remains on how these specs perform in real-world scenarios. We expect to see more details on the final consumer experience once the hardware reaches the market next month.
