Light Flip launches as colorful flip phone with 5G, USB-C, and OLED for $299
The Light Phone brand has introduced the Light Flip, a new entry into the mobile market that prioritizes a minimalist experience. Priced at $299, the device is designed for users who want to move away from traditional smartphone distractions while maintaining essential connectivity.
When closed, the phone features a colorful, compact plastic exterior. Upon opening, it reveals a 2.8-inch OLED display paired with a physical keypad. The device includes three programmable function keys, allowing users to customize their interactions with the hardware. It runs on LightOS, an operating system built specifically to strip away modern app dependencies in favor of basic, functional tools like GPS, music playback, and calendar management.
Despite its simple interface, the hardware remains current. It includes a 5G modem, a 50-megapixel camera, and a USB-C port for modern charging. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT8873 processor, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of flash storage. Users can also access a developer kit, which allows for the creation of additional software over time.
Additional hardware features include a 3.5-mm headphone jack and a user-replaceable 1,800-mAh battery. The phone supports both nano-SIM and eSIM technology. Pre-orders are currently open, with shipments expected to start in April 2027. The device is available in six distinct colors including red, yellow, blue, pink, gray, and black.
