OnePlus is leaving the US and a global market exit could follow by 2027, says report

OnePlus is preparing to exit the US and European markets. Reports confirm that the company plans to cease operations in these regions starting this week. This decision marks a significant shift for the brand, which parent company Oppo now intends to wind down globally, including in India, by 2027. The company will remain operational in China for the foreseeable future.

Financial instability and the rising cost of components created a difficult environment for the brand. The company previously built its reputation on offering flagship-grade hardware at lower price points. This business model failed as memory chip prices climbed because manufacturers prioritized components for AI data centers. Weak sales performance in Western markets and legal pressure from companies like Apple further complicated their ability to compete.

Existing customers will still receive support for their devices. OnePlus has confirmed that it will continue to provide software updates and honor warranty claims until the end of each device's support cycle. Remaining inventory in the US and Europe will sell off in the coming weeks and will not see restock once stores are empty.

This restructuring affects other entities under the Oppo umbrella as well. Realme will exit the Chinese market while Oppo shifts its strategic focus to Central Europe. While OnePlus established a dedicated fanbase over the years, the brand struggled to maintain its market position against larger competitors. This move concludes a long chapter for the once-popular smartphone manufacturer.
