Google is already preparing for the next iteration of its affordable smartphone lineup. Reports regarding the upcoming Pixel 11a provide a clear picture of what hardware upgrades consumers can expect in the coming year.

One of the most significant changes involves the internal modem hardware. The Pixel 11a shifts to the MediaTek M90 modem. This move marks a departure from the Samsung modem components that previously defined the series. This switch aims to improve connectivity performance across the board.

Under the hood, the device houses the Tensor G6 chip paired with 8GB of RAM. Security remains a priority with the inclusion of the Titan M3 chip. Display specifications include a 6.3-inch AMOLED panel that supports a 60-120Hz variable refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 3,350 nits.

While the battery capacity sits at 4,870mAh, which is lower than the previous model, the efficiency gains from the new internal hardware may keep real-world usage consistent with earlier devices. The phone will launch in four color options, maintaining the aesthetic expectations for the mid-range lineup.

Outside of the core hardware, updates to the front-facing camera system are currently under development. These adjustments represent a continued effort to keep the mid-range device competitive against high-end alternatives. Further details regarding exact storage configurations remain consistent with past releases, targeting 128GB and 256GB tiers.

Google continues to refine the user experience as the August 12 event approaches for the main Pixel 11 series. While the Pixel 11a remains on the horizon, these early specifications offer a preview of how the company intends to position its hardware in the months ahead.
