One UI 9 Beta Rollout Begins

Samsung has initiated the One UI 9 Beta program for its Galaxy S26 5G series. Enrolled users began receiving update notifications on August 28, 2026. This release marks a shift toward the Android 17 architecture. While the Z Fold 8 already ships with this software, the S26 lineup represents the primary test group for the upcoming public rollout. It is a work in progress rather than a finished product.

Core Feature Additions

The software introduces three specific functional tools. The first, My FamCam, uses artificial intelligence to track a chosen subject within a frame. It then adjusts the composition automatically for different social media aspect ratios. Another feature, Now Brief, gathers information into custom cards based on user habits and daily schedules. The final tool, Now Nudge, offers contextual suggestions to assist with navigation and task management throughout the day.

Wider Industry Context

This update follows a period of hardware pricing adjustments for the Samsung Galaxy A37, A57, and S25 models in the Indian market. The company remains focused on integrating software-led AI features to differentiate its devices from rivals. Samsung is also looking toward future hardware iterations, with reports suggesting design influences from the iPhone 17 Pro for the upcoming S27 Ultra. This beta period serves as the testing phase for these software additions before a full consumer launch. Users should expect continued iterations as the company monitors performance data from the S26 test group.
