TrueMoney has launched a new tap-to-pay digital financial service across Thailand. The move marks an attempt to simplify payment processes for the platform’s 35 million registered users.

This service introduces two distinct models for contactless transactions. The TrueMoney BlueTap system provides closed-loop payments at 7-Eleven stores and partner retail locations, while an open-loop model uses EMV contactless terminals. The company intends to reach more than 50,000 paypoints by September 2026.

Ascend Money developed the open-loop system in collaboration with Alipay+ and Mastercard. This infrastructure allows users to pay at over 900,000 contactless acceptance points in Thailand and millions of global locations without the need for a physical card. Adoption remains high among younger demographics and office workers.

Future plans include integration with mass transit systems. TrueMoney already supports payments on approximately 6,000 Bangkok Mass Transit Authority buses. Additional work with Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc aims to bring tap-to-pay functionality to MRT Blue and Purple Line gates by the fourth quarter of this year.
