Bigscreen has permanently reduced the price of its Beyond 2 virtual reality headset, setting the new entry point at $959. This shift comes as the company manages shifting production schedules and hardware refinements for its thin, lightweight PC VR device.

Price Adjustments and Updated Hardware

The standard Bigscreen Beyond 2 now lists for $959, down from its previous $1,019 price point. The premium Beyond 2e model, which includes integrated eye-tracking technology, is now priced at $1,159, marking a decrease from $1,219. These changes arrive despite broader economic trends involving inflation and increased component costs within the consumer hardware sector.

Bigscreen confirmed that the standard Beyond 2 now ships with the Universal-Fit Cushion as a default. This component, a thin silicone light seal available in soft or firm textures, represents a change from the initial launch requirements. When the headset first reached consumers in June 2025, the company mandated the submission of precise iPhone facial scans to create custom facial interfaces. The transition to the Universal-Fit system began in November 2025, widening the accessibility of the hardware for new users who may not want to engage in the scanning process.

Resuming Halo Mount Production

Production of the Halo Mount has resumed after a series of setbacks. The component, designed to distribute the headset’s 107g weight across the head, underwent significant revisions. Following negative feedback from early testers late last year, Bigscreen engineers redesigned the strap to improve wearability. Further complications arose in June 2026 due to production issues involving the device’s "sledge link" component, necessitating yet another minor design iteration.

Company officials state that these engineering challenges are now behind them. With production lines running, Bigscreen expects to ship the largest volume of Halo Mounts throughout October. The team plans to fulfill the remaining backlog of preorders by November. Once this catch-up period concludes, the company anticipates that new orders for the mount will ship within one to two business days.

Industry Context and Supply Chain Status

High consumer demand coupled with a delayed freight shipment has tightened current inventory levels for both the Beyond 2 and 2e models. Some customers still receive their orders on the same day they purchase, while others face wait times of up to two weeks. Bigscreen management expects shipping operations to normalize to their standard one-to-two-day turnaround by September 14th.

The Beyond 2 relies on SteamVR tracking and pairs with 1.0 or 2.0 Base Stations, which users must purchase separately. It features a 116° diagonal field of view and operates at 75Hz or 90Hz. Compatible with standard PC VR controllers like the Valve Index, the system remains a niche, high-performance option within the PC VR market. This hardware ecosystem relies on specialized components that contrast with the all-in-one standalone headsets that dominate the current market share. As Bigscreen refines its supply chain, it demonstrates a commitment to maintaining its position as a provider of specialized, lightweight gear for VR enthusiasts who prioritize comfort and optical clarity over mass-market features.
