HTC Vive Eagle AI glasses: New Ray-Ban Meta alternative launching in the US for $499

HTC is bringing its Vive Eagle AI glasses to the United States market. The device is officially scheduled for release on September 1, 2026, and is currently available for preorder on Amazon. Priced at $499.99, this hardware enters the market as a competitor to existing smart eyewear like the Ray-Ban Meta series.

The glasses include a 12MP ultra-wide camera capable of capturing 3,024 x 4,032 pixel photos and recording 1,512 x 2,016 video at 30 frames per second. The onboard processing power comes from the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform, supported by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E, ensuring standard wireless performance for a wearable device of this type.

AI integration is a core feature of the Vive Eagle. Users gain access to HTC’s voice assistant along with optional connections to Google Gemini and ChatGPT. The glasses support real-time translation for captured photos across 13 languages, as well as AI-assisted note-taking. The frame includes four microphones and stereo speakers to manage audio tasks.

Physically, the glasses feature an IP54 rating for protection against water and dust. Battery capacity is rated at 235mAh, which the manufacturer states provides up to 4.5 hours of continuous playback. Standby time for the unit is reported at 36 hours. The product is available in two frame weights, 48.8g for the medium size and 51.5g for the large size.

HTC is offering several configurations at launch. Customers can choose between round or square frames, with either clear or tinted lens options available in colors such as glossy black, apricot, and matte black. The device represents a move by HTC to secure a position in the personal AI wearable category.
