Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Global: Complete Guide to the 10th Anniversary Event
Niantic has announced the details for the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest 2026 Global, marking the tenth anniversary of the mobile game. The event takes place from Saturday, July 11, to Sunday, July 12, 2026, and covers nine hours of gameplay each day from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time. For the first time, the core global experience is free for all trainers.
The headlining attraction for this year is the introduction of Mega Mewtwo. Mega Mewtwo X appears in Super Mega Raids on Saturday, while Mega Mewtwo Y takes over on Sunday. Any Mewtwo caught during these raids comes with an unlocked Mega Level, allowing players to Mega Evolve the Pokemon immediately without an initial energy cost. Additionally, Zeraora arrives as a reward for completing the event-exclusive Special Research storyline.
While the base event remains free, Niantic offers an optional Road of Legends Deluxe Pass for players who want extra perks. This premium tier includes access to the Global Challenge Arena, exclusive Incense encounters for regional Pokemon like Tropius and Bouffalant, and bonus resource drops. All players, regardless of ticket status, receive structural bonuses including increased daily free raid passes, a higher limit for special trades, and reduced Stardust costs for trading.
Gameplay during the weekend features rotating habitat blocks that highlight different elemental types. Saturday focuses on Stormfire Peaks, Astral Tides, and Dragonflight Summit. Sunday rotations include the Earthforged Domain, Verdant Anomaly, and Twilight Battlefield. Special costumed Pikachu variants and other starters wearing visors appear throughout the event. Players should prepare by clearing their storage space and gathering raid resources before the event begins.
To prepare for the intensive raid schedule, players should build teams strong against Psychic types. Suggested counters for the Mega Mewtwo raids include Dawn Wings Necrozma, Mega Tyranitar, Mega Gengar, and Hydreigon. Successful completion of hourly community goals during the weekend will trigger the Ultra Unlock event, potentially leading to further activities in the coming months.
