Pokémon Go is launching hundreds of Gyms and Pokéstops at historic National Trust sites this summer
The National Trust and Pokémon GO have launched a partnership across the United Kingdom for summer 2026. This collaboration brings the digital game to historic sites, with 140 locations now featuring designated PokéStops and Gyms. Players can visit these properties to participate in special in-game events and collect location-specific digital backgrounds.
The project aims to introduce younger audiences to historic heritage sites through interactive gameplay. Twenty-seven specific locations, including Kingston Lacy, Anglesey Abbey, and Fountains Abbey, host dedicated zones with hands-on activities, mini-games, and Mega Evolution trails. Visitors can engage with physical trail signage and complete challenges while exploring the grounds.
Collectors have additional incentives to visit multiple properties. A sticker collection program offers five unique digital stickers—featuring Pokémon like Mega Charizard Y and Pikachu—which participants can track in a booklet. Completing the set provides an entry to win a Pokémon TCG Elite Trainer Box. Some locations also offer scheduled meet-and-greets with a life-sized Pikachu mascot.
The initiative serves as part of the wider Summer of Play program at National Trust properties. It replaces traditional historical tours with a focus on modern, digital-first engagement. The organization suggests this provides an accessible entry point for families interested in combining outdoor activity with popular media franchises.
