Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami, US Marshals Service tells AP

Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday by the U.S. Marshals Service. The arrests follow a request from British authorities who are seeking the brothers’ extradition on charges of rape and sex trafficking. The alleged offenses involve four additional victims in the United Kingdom, where the pair grew up, bringing the total number of charges against them to 38. These developments mark a significant moment in the ongoing legal actions against the duo across multiple countries.

The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the brothers were taken into custody on a sealed warrant. They are expected to appear in a Miami federal court early next week. The Tate brothers, who are both U.S. and British citizens, had previously faced legal proceedings in Romania starting in 2022. They denied those allegations and the case there remained stalled due to procedural issues, allowing them to eventually relocate to Florida.

Defense attorney Joseph McBride stated that he has not yet spoken with his clients but characterized the new charges from the U.K. as false. He suggested the legal actions are intended to block defamation lawsuits the brothers filed in the United States. McBride maintained that the brothers are innocent and asserted that they will challenge the extradition process.

Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, are known for their online content, which focuses on wealth and masculine identity. While Andrew Tate has maintained a large following on platforms like X, he remains barred from other social media sites due to violations of policies regarding hate speech and conduct. The U.K. Crown Prosecution Services emphasized its commitment to addressing reports of violence against women, noting that investigations remain active as they pursue these latest charges.
