Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami for rape and trafficking charges in the UK

Federal authorities arrested Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami on Saturday. The arrests follow a warrant issued in the United Kingdom regarding pending criminal charges. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the brothers were taken into custody to begin extradition proceedings.

The Crown Prosecution Service in England previously announced new charges against the pair. Andrew Tate faces counts including rape, human trafficking, and offenses related to child pornography. Tristan Tate faces charges including sexual assault, rape, and trafficking for sexual exploitation. These allegations concern incidents reported between 2010 and 2017.

Malcolm McHaffie of the CPS special crime division stated that additional evidence from Bedfordshire Police brought the total number of alleged victims to seven. The legal team for the brothers, led by attorney Joseph McBride, denies these claims. McBride stated that the brothers are innocent and labeled the extradition request a political action. He argued that the charges lack merit and suggested the legal process intends to target the brothers unfairly.

The brothers are dual citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom. They previously faced legal scrutiny in Romania in 2022 regarding separate allegations of sexual exploitation. That case did not move forward due to procedural issues. The current charges in the United Kingdom focus on actions alleged to have occurred in areas north of London.

Authorities have not yet released full details of the sealed warrant. The Department of Justice remains involved in the process, citing existing treaties and law enforcement agreements that govern international extraditions between the two nations.
