North Carolina woman vanishes after swim on Grenada beach vacation
Elizabeth Waddell, a 44-year-old resident of Cary, North Carolina, is missing in Grenada following a swim near her vacation rental. Local authorities reported that she was last seen on Wednesday at Grand Anse Beach, a prominent tourist location in St. George.
Friends and family state that Waddell was vacationing with a companion when she went for a swim and failed to return to their Airbnb. Her friend discovered her towel on a pier but could not locate her nearby, leading to an immediate missing person report filed with the Royal Grenada Police Force.
The Royal Grenada Police Force is coordinating a search effort and has requested that boat operators, local fishermen, and residents along the southern coastline report any relevant information. Her husband, Cailen Waddell, confirmed he is traveling to the area to assist in the search for his wife.
Officials from the U.S. State Department are aware of the situation and are monitoring reports regarding her disappearance. Waddell is described as 5-foot-5 with a medium build and short blond hair. Anyone with information is instructed to contact the South Saint George Police Station.
