ICE prepares major operation targeting Haitians losing TPS after Supreme Court ruling

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is preparing a significant operation to locate and arrest Haitian nationals as their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) reaches its end. Federal sources indicate that this enforcement effort is set to begin as soon as this week.

The initiative follows a Supreme Court ruling that reversed lower-court decisions, which had previously delayed the termination of TPS for approximately 300,000 Haitian migrants. With the legal path cleared, the administration intends to move forward with ending the designation.

Ohio is identified as a primary location for these operations, specifically the city of Springfield. Springfield has experienced a rapid increase in its Haitian population, placing the city at the center of the national immigration debate.

White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson described the court ruling as a victory for the administration, noting that TPS was intended to be a temporary status rather than a permanent residency pathway. Department of Homeland Security officials have echoed this sentiment, emphasizing a return to the rule of law regarding immigration programs.
