Tate brothers arrested in Miami as UK adds rape, trafficking charges

Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Sunday following a sealed warrant issued in relation to charges filed by the United Kingdom government. The United States Marshals Service confirmed the arrest of the brothers who are dual US-UK citizens.

British prosecutors from the Crown Prosecution Service announced the expansion of criminal charges against both individuals. Andrew Tate, 39, faces seven counts of rape, three counts of sex trafficking, three counts of assault, and 19 charges related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, is charged with two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and three counts of facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The new charges extend the timeline of alleged offenses to include incidents between 2010 and 2017, bringing the total number of alleged victims to seven. This development is separate from ongoing legal proceedings in Romania where the brothers face additional charges of rape and human trafficking.

Attorneys for the brothers state that they believe the clients will be cleared of these allegations once the evidence is presented to a judge. The legal team characterized the actions of the Department of Justice as an abuse of authority.

The Tate brothers previously moved to the United States after their initial arrest in Romania in 2022. They maintain their innocence regarding all charges brought by the United Kingdom authorities.
