Ukraine war briefing: Strikes devastate Russian warehouses ‘used for drones’

Ukrainian long-range strikes recently hit two major logistics hubs inside Russia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed these operations targeted facilities in the Moscow and Tambov regions. According to reports from Ukrainian officials, these warehouses served as supply chains for the production of drones and navigation equipment. Russian authorities acknowledged the impact of the strikes, noting casualties among workers at the Kotovsk site.

The military activity extended to sea and infrastructure targets. Kyiv reported strikes on a fuel depot in Noginsk and naval vessels in the Black and Azov seas, including a patrol ship near Kerch. These operations form part of a broader push to disrupt the Russian logistics network, which relies on these hubs for military cargo and fuel transport.

Simultaneously, the conflict continues to impact civilian areas. Russian missile strikes targeted Kyiv early Sunday, resulting in casualties and significant property damage, including fires at a residential block and a supermarket. Regional infrastructure in Odesa also faced attacks, causing further loss of life and damage to port storage facilities.

International involvement remains a factor in the ongoing violence. North Korean foreign minister Choe Son Hui visited Moscow for high-level talks, a move coinciding with reports of thousands of North Korean troops on the frontlines. Additionally, evidence suggests deceptive recruitment schemes continue to pull nationals from countries like Botswana into combat roles in the conflict zone.

Internal political shifts also affect the situation in Ukraine. Protests erupted in Kyiv following the dismissal of defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov, a decision President Zelenskyy justified as necessary to address communication challenges within the military leadership. Investigations continue into other matters, including recovered evidence regarding the attempted assassination of a Ukrainian businessman in Monaco.
