Kmart to close Bucks County warehouse, slashing 147 jobs

Transform Warehouse Operations LLC is closing its massive distribution center in Fairless Hills, Bucks County. The move is set for September 16 and impacts 147 employees.

The facility spans nearly two million square feet and serves as the largest of four distribution centers for the company. Transformco, the parent organization that holds the remaining assets of Kmart and Sears, submitted a formal WARN notice to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry to confirm the shutdown.

This specific warehouse site has a long history in the region. A major fire destroyed the original structure in 1982, leading to a massive rebuild in 1984. While Kmart still maintains a minimal physical retail presence elsewhere in the country, this closure represents another step in the reduction of its remaining industrial footprint.
