Racine County celebrated the completion of the 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program this Friday. A total of 117 local teenagers finished the eight-week initiative, which marks its sixth year of operation.
Participants between the ages of 15 and 18 worked at more than 50 local businesses throughout the summer. These positions provided the teens with compensation of $14 an hour while they acquired practical hard and soft skills in the workplace. The program aims to bridge the gap between education and professional experience.
The graduation ceremony took place at the Wieczorek Pavilion in Pritchard Park. During the event, local officials recognized the efforts of the youth, including 12 students who received special awards for their performance. These teens worked at various locations across the county, from local retail shops to service-oriented companies.
Organizers emphasize that this program remains a priority for regional workforce development. By connecting youth with local employers, the county prepares the next generation of workers for future career opportunities. The program continues to provide a foundation for students as they transition toward high school graduation and post-secondary life.
