The WNDR Museum in downtown Boston is officially closing its doors. Located at 500 Washington St., the venue will shut down on August 30 after two years of operations in the city. The museum confirmed the news through a statement this week.

Since opening in the winter of 2024, the 17,000-square-foot facility provided visitors with over 20 exhibits focused on art and technology. The space was well known for the INSIDEOUT installation by German artist Leigh Sachwitz, which simulated weather events like rain and lightning. Other popular features included the Living Gallery and the Wisdom Project, where guests could leave personal messages.

The organization stated that it aimed to create a space for play and connection during its time in Boston. While the Boston location is ending its run, the WNDR brand remains active elsewhere, having originated in Chicago in 2018. The museum garnered attention earlier this year, appearing in various reader polls regarding immersive art experiences across the country.

Visitors still have a few days to view the exhibits before the final closing date. The museum remains open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with extended hours on Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m. The staff indicated that this final window serves as an opportunity for the public to visit one last time.
