Charles Spencer will publish a new book about his late sister, Diana, titled Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. The book is scheduled for release in the UK on September 22. This publication marks the first time Earl Spencer has provided a detailed account of his sister's life and the events surrounding her final days.
Spencer decided to write the book following ongoing interview requests as the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death approaches. He stated that he wants to share his own memories to counter public narratives he views as inaccurate. According to Spencer, he aims to speak on her behalf, focusing on a positive perspective rather than the opinions frequently presented by others.
Publishing director Daniel Bunyard noted that the book contains several revelations intended to draw significant attention while serving as a tribute. Spencer intends for the work to resonate with those who remember Diana and those who want to understand her character, describing her as a person defined by love, charisma, and personal struggle.
This release follows Spencer's 1997 eulogy at Westminster Abbey. He hopes this new account provides a clearer understanding of who his sister was as an individual, beyond the public figure known to the world.
