Lucy Davis, the British actor recognized for her role as Dawn Tinsley in the original version of The Office, has confirmed she has stage four breast cancer. The 53-year-old actor shared that she was diagnosed eighteen months ago. The condition has metastasised to her bones, including her spine, ribs, and right hip. Because of the progression of the disease, she is no longer a candidate for chemotherapy.

In a recent statement, Davis noted that she is focusing on living her remaining time with humor and activity. She stated that she remains at peace with her diagnosis and is not afraid of the future. She continues to advocate for friends and family to treat her normally rather than focusing on her illness, as she finds that being treated as an invalid often makes her feel worse than the disease itself.

Davis has maintained a long career in television and film, including roles in Shaun of the Dead and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, alongside a decade-long run as Hayley Jordan on The Archers. She intends to continue her work in animal rights advocacy and remains open to acting opportunities, which she described as a primary source of joy in her life.

She acknowledged the difficulty of the path ahead for her family, noting that her primary concern lies with them. Davis also shared that she occasionally requires a wheelchair to manage pain, though she encourages friends to interact with her as they did before her diagnosis. She expressed gratitude for the time she has had and reaffirmed her commitment to living the rest of her life on her own terms.
