Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Riding for Marvel Now

Marvel Studios made a major announcement at San Diego Comic-Con, confirming that Ryan Gosling will step into the role of Johnny Blaze for an upcoming Ghost Rider reboot. The film is currently in development under the direction of Shawn Levy. This project marks a significant addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a release date targeted for 2028.

Director Shawn Levy spoke about the casting on stage during the studio's Hall H presentation. He noted that the opportunity to work with Gosling on this specific character came together following their previous collaboration on the film Starfighter. Levy expressed high regard for Gosling and his work ethic as they move toward the production phase of the movie.

Gosling is the third actor to take on the mantle of the character on screen. Nicolas Cage portrayed the anti-hero in the initial Sony adaptations, while Gabriel Luna played the character in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The legacy of the character also includes a personal connection, as Eva Mendes, Gosling’s wife, appeared in the first film.
