Alicia Silverstone to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in new 'Clueless' sequel series
Paramount+ has officially greenlit a sequel series to the 90s classic Clueless. Alicia Silverstone returns to the project in her iconic role as Cher Horowitz. In this new chapter, Cher navigates life as a successful businesswoman and a mother while dealing with the challenges of raising a teenager.
The series picks up 30 years after the events of the original film. Production details indicate that the show will explore the shift in power dynamics as Cher finds her own parenting style tested by the high school years of her daughter. The narrative focuses on how the former Beverly Hills it-girl handles a world she no longer controls with the same ease she had in her youth.
A strong team supports the project. Original film writer and director Amy Heckerling joins the production as an executive producer alongside Robert Lawrence. The writing team features Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Filming for the project is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in 2027.
Fans of the 1995 film can expect the return of the specific tone that defined the original. Silverstone serves as an executive producer to maintain the core identity of the character. The project aims to bridge the gap between the original audience and a new generation of viewers through the lens of Cher’s personal growth.
