Walt Disney Imagineering has announced that a new Marvel-themed attraction, Avengers Infinity Defense, is scheduled to open in 2028 at Disney California Adventure park. The announcement occurred during the D23 fan event in Anaheim, where studio executives confirmed the project serves as part of a significant expansion to the existing Avengers Campus area.

The ride is designed as an E-ticket attraction that combines physical sets with large-scale media displays. Guests will enter the narrative as recruits working with Ms. Marvel to engage in battles across multiple worlds. The primary antagonist is King Thanos, a version of the character from a reality where he defeated the heroes. The attraction features appearances by several Marvel Cinematic Universe actors, including Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.

In addition to Avengers Infinity Defense, the 2028 expansion includes the introduction of Stark Flight Lab. This second ride will feature actors such as Brie Larson and Anthony Mackie acting as flight instructors for guests. The overall expansion will double the size of the current Avengers Campus at the California Adventure park.

Marvel and Disney are simultaneously moving forward with additional international projects. Hong Kong Disneyland is building an Avengers Research Testing Labs attraction, while a new roller coaster dedicated to Spider-Man is under construction at Shanghai Disneyland. The track for the Shanghai project is already in place as the company works to grow its global footprint of Marvel-inspired experiences.
