SDCC 2026: 'Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane' and 'Venom' Comic Series Present New Beginnings for Mary Jane Watson, Eddie Brock, and Venom

Marvel Comics revealed significant changes for two of its most prominent figures during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Following the events of the Queen in Black crossover, the status quo for Eddie Brock and Mary Jane Watson shifts in two distinct directions.

Eddie Brock finds himself reunited with the Venom symbiote. This new ongoing series titled Venom #1 arrives in October. Written by Charles Soule with art by Tommaso Bianchi, the story focuses on Brock re-establishing his role as a protector. The creative team promises a fast-paced narrative that moves the character into new territory after his recent tenure as the King in Black.

Mary Jane Watson transitions into a new chapter after her time as a symbiote host. Her solo venture, Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane, launches as a five-issue limited series in November. Written by Ashley Allen with art by Phil Noto, the story follows Watson as she launches a production company in New York City. She faces opposition from the villain Chameleon while navigating her professional life alongside a supporting cast that includes Black Cat and Iron Man.

These launches follow the fallout of the Queen in Black event. Readers can expect the threads of these new beginnings to emerge from that story starting July 29. The publisher aims to position both characters in fresh environments as they move away from the shared symbiote narrative of recent years.
