Neon has released the teaser trailer for Paper Tiger, the latest crime drama from writer-director James Gray. The film transports audiences to 1986 Queens, focusing on the strained relationship between two brothers caught in a dangerous web involving the local Russian mafia.

Adam Driver leads the cast as Gary, an ex-cop, while Miles Teller portrays his brother Isaac, an engineer. Scarlett Johansson rounds out the main cast as Isaac’s wife. The story explores the personal fallout and risks to family safety when a local scheme goes wrong, forcing the brothers to reckon with the darker side of the American Dream.

James Gray based the narrative on his own family’s history with organized crime figures in 1980s New York. The project garnered attention at the Cannes Film Festival, where it secured a 10-minute standing ovation after joining the competition lineup late in the game.

Paper Tiger is scheduled to open the New York Film Festival in late September 2026. A limited theatrical release will follow on November 13, 2026. Audiences can look forward to a tense exploration of loyalty and crime in a specific, gritty period of New York history.
