Ellie Goulding has initiated legal action against her former managers, Benedict Mawson and Edward Millett of TaP Management. The lawsuit centers on allegations that the managers secured business deals for Goulding with Live Nation without disclosing that the firm had a financial stake in her management company.
According to the court filing, Live Nation acquired a controlling interest in TaP Management’s parent company in 2015 and completed a total buyout in 2019. Goulding alleges that after this acquisition, her managers reported directly to leadership within Live Nation. This relationship created a conflict of interest because her representatives were tasked with negotiating the best terms for her, while simultaneously being contractually barred from reducing business with the Live Nation group.
Goulding’s complaint states she was unaware of these restrictions during her time with the firm from 2018 to 2025. She argues that her managers collected a 20 percent commission on contracts signed with Live Nation entities for concert promotion, merchandise, and media projects while operating under a conflict of interest.
The singer is now seeking equitable compensation and damages for what she describes as a breach of fiduciary duty. Mawson and Millett have not yet provided a public response to the allegations. Goulding’s legal team intends to prove that these undisclosed ties compromised her ability to secure optimal commercial outcomes throughout her tenure at the management firm.
