Mac Edwards is stepping down as Vice President and Market Manager of Beasley Media Group’s Charlotte cluster on September 4. This departure concludes a notable 35-year tenure with the broadcaster. Edwards joined the company in 1991, starting as an on-air personality and Program Director at WKML in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Throughout his career, Edwards moved through various leadership positions, including General Manager roles in Fayetteville and oversight of the Detroit cluster. In 2022, he returned to North Carolina to manage the Charlotte operations, which includes stations such as WPEG, WSOC, and WBAV. During his time at the company, he received the Market Manager of the Year award five times.

Brian Beasley, Chief Operating Officer of the company, noted that recruiting Edwards 35 years ago remains one of the organization’s most successful hiring decisions. Beasley stated that Edwards provided leadership, fostered excellence, and served communities across every market he managed. Beyond his corporate duties, Edwards contributed to the executive committees of both the Michigan and North Carolina Associations of Broadcasters.

Edwards cited his desire to spend time with his family as a primary factor in his decision to leave. He has two grandsons and another grandchild on the way. While he plans to step away from his current responsibilities, he expressed appreciation for the relationships and experiences gained during his time with the company. The broadcaster plans to announce future leadership arrangements for the Charlotte market soon.
