The New Radicals are officially back. Nearly three decades after the massive success of their debut album and the anthem You Get What You Give, the band has released a new track. The song is titled One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!) and serves as the soundtrack for the upcoming rom-com film One Night Only, starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner.
Frontman Gregg Alexander led the band during their initial run in the late nineties before the group split in 1999. In the years following, Alexander established himself as a prominent songwriter and producer, contributing to hits like Murder on the Dancefloor and Lost Stars. His work remains a staple in popular music, bridging the gap between his own band's legacy and modern pop hits.
The group has made occasional appearances in recent years. They reunited in 2021 for a performance at President Biden’s inauguration and regrouped again in 2024 to record a version of Murder on the Dancefloor for Doug Emhoff. The release of this new song marks the first original material from the band in twenty-eight years, signaling a unexpected return for the legendary one-hit wonders.
