Her representatives confirmed the news to People, noting that the singer intends to take a significant break from public-facing work and appearances to address the ongoing scrutiny regarding her health.
The decision comes shortly after Empire Street Productions revealed that Grande would no longer participate in the upcoming London revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park With George. She was previously attached to play the roles of Dot and Marie alongside Jonathan Bailey. In a statement, the production company expressed support for her choice and noted that the show will move forward with new casting to be announced later.
Public interest in Grande’s health has been a recurring theme over the past few years. In 2025, she spoke out against body-shaming and the dangers of constant public commentary regarding personal appearance. More recently, discourse spiked following the release of the music video for her eighth studio album, Petal. The video depicts an actor facing intense pressure from casting executives, reflecting themes of professional strain.
While this break signals a departure from the spotlight, Grande remains scheduled to appear in the upcoming film Focker-in-Law alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.
