Fans in Huntsville have a rare opportunity to hear Phoebe Bridgers' latest work before its global release. The songwriter is hosting an exclusive event titled Lost Weekend Planetarium Experience at the Intuitive Planetarium located within the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. This event pairs the upcoming solo album with immersive visuals captured by National Geographic photographer Babak Tafreshi.
The setup for these screenings emphasizes focus and presence. Attendees must secure their phones in Yondr pouches for the duration of the show, a method used by other performers to minimize distractions. Tickets for the Wednesday and Thursday slots are available for purchase, though several time slots have already reached full capacity.
This release, titled Lost Weekend, marks Bridgers' first solo album in six years. It follows her 2020 project Punisher and her successful run as part of the group boygenius. The project is a collaboration involving Spotify and the entertainment company Cosm, extending beyond Alabama to cities including Paris, Melbourne, and Nashville.
Bridgers continues to maintain a presence in the region. She previously performed a pop-up show in Mobile earlier this year and appeared at the Hangout Music Festival in 2022. The Huntsville location itself remains a notable venue, having recently earned recognition as one of the top planetariums in the country. The screenings offer a specific, screen-free way to preview the new music.
