The legendary 1986 Queen concert in Budapest is coming to cinemas worldwide. This performance remains a historic milestone as the first Western stadium rock show held behind the Iron Curtain. For many fans at the time, seeing the band live was an impossible dream, as their music was often only available on illegal cassette tapes.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the event, the film undergoes a full 4K restoration. Sir Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production team restored the original 35mm footage, while the audio has been remixed from the original multitracks. Brian May notes that the clarity of the new version creates an experience where viewers feel immersed in the live energy of the show.

This concert film holds special significance as it captures the final filmed live performance of the band with Freddie Mercury. The setlist features iconic anthems including We Will Rock You, Under Pressure, and Bohemian Rhapsody. The band also performed an acoustic arrangement of the Hungarian folk song Tavaszi Szél Vizet Áraszt, a moment that left an impact on both the audience and the musicians.

World premiere screenings begin this September at the Budapest Classics Film Marathon, with broader cinema releases following in October. Alongside the film, a multi-format package will arrive in late October, featuring the soundtrack on vinyl for the first time. Fans can now pre-order the release to secure their copy of this restored piece of rock history.
