Katseye member Sophia Laforteza is taking a temporary hiatus from the group. The decision comes just one week before the scheduled release of the group’s new EP titled Wild. The announcement was shared via the platform Weverse, confirming that Laforteza will miss upcoming promotional activities.
In the official statement, the group noted that the break is intended to prioritize her mental health and wellness. Following consultations with medical professionals, Laforteza received advice to take an extended period for rest and recovery. The group emphasized that this measure is necessary to ensure she can return to performing.
Laforteza provided a personal statement to her fans, expressing that the choice to step away was difficult. She acknowledged that while she loves performing and sharing moments with her audience, she recognizes the necessity of focusing on her physical and mental condition now to ensure her long-term ability to work. She thanked her supporters for their patience and promised to focus on healing.
This marks the second time a member of the six-person group has stepped back this year. Earlier, Manon Bannerman announced a temporary leave to focus on her health and well-being. The group, formed through the Netflix series Dream Academy, currently continues its operations with members Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae.
