Defense attorney Michael Sanft has pushed for the suppression of these materials, arguing that the inclusion of such media coverage risks confusing the jury and complicates the legal proceedings. Judge Carli Kierny has deferred her final ruling on these specific evidentiary requests and will review the relevant footage before the trial moves forward.
Davis has remained in custody since his arrest in September 2023, when a Clark County grand jury officially indicted him on a murder charge linked to the death of the legendary hip-hop artist. The upcoming trial is substantial, with the court preparing to hear testimony from between 30 and 40 witnesses.
