Amazon MGM Studios has officially greenlit its first multi-camera sitcom titled DINKS. The series comes from Marta Kauffman, the creative force behind Friends and Grace and Frankie. The show features married actors June Diane Raphael and Paul Scheer in lead roles. It also marks the first time a multi-camera comedy will be produced in an improvised format.

The project title DINKS stands for dual income, no kids. The story centers on a couple who decides to renovate their dream house while navigating life without children or marriage. Jon Gabrus rounds out the main cast. This sitcom aims to modernize the traditional multi-camera production style through spontaneity.

What sets this production apart is the financing model. Amazon MGM Studios partnered with Lionsgate and Publicis Media Content Innovation to bring the show to Prime Video. Publicis Media Content Innovation is fully financing the series, representing a departure from conventional television funding structures. This arrangement highlights a trend toward cross-industry collaboration in premium content creation.

Kauffman co-created the series with Hannah K.S. Canter. The duo acts as executive producers under their production banner, Okay Goodnight. Amazon commissioned the pilot back in 2024, and the production team is now preparing to move forward with the full series. The show joins a comedy lineup at Prime Video that already includes titles like Elle and Overcompensating.

Production partners view this as a way to combine capital with creative development expertise. By bringing in advertisers and marketing giants earlier in the process, they believe this model provides a viable path to greenlight high-quality projects. The team expects this to serve as a blueprint for future television partnerships.
