The virtual reality fitness platform Supernatural is preparing for a new chapter. After Meta cut staff and paused updates for the app in January, the service will relaunch as an independent company later this year. This transition returns the platform to its original pricing model of 20 dollars per month or 200 dollars annually.
Leanne Pedante, the company's Head of Fitness, confirmed that the platform will retain its library of over 3,000 workouts along with its existing coaching staff and virtual environments. The team is currently navigating music licensing agreements and plans to resume the release of new content soon. Founding members can access a discounted annual rate of 180 dollars during the initial launch period.
Operating as a smaller, flat organization allows the team to reduce internal bureaucracy and increase the speed of development. One of the first initiatives from this new structure is a scholarship program designed to support users facing financial hardship. The company is also reviewing requests from members interested in sponsoring memberships for others.
While the platform faces competition from traditional fitness facilities, it continues to focus on the community-driven aspect of its user base. Subscribers have organized physical meetups across the country, and the app has fostered long-term relationships among participants. Looking ahead, the leadership is exploring ways to extend the Supernatural experience beyond VR headsets, including potential integrations with motion-tracking devices like the Nex Playground or non-headset training programs.
