The decision arrives shortly after the New York State Department of Health issued a $560,000 fine against the center for its failure to implement necessary corrections. Officials highlight that despite the intervention of temporary management, the facility remained unable to resolve critical issues regarding resident care, staffing, and safety protocols.
Local lawmakers confirm that the facility now faces a strict deadline to submit a formal closure plan to the state. This process is expected to affect approximately 130 residents currently living at the center.
