Carolyn Greene is sharing the story of her late son, Myles Greene, to bring mental health awareness into public view. Myles died by suicide on June 25 at age 24. He was a resident of Bethel, Connecticut, who spent years managing depression while building a career as a veterinary technician.
Carolyn describes her son as an empathic person who felt the weight of global issues deeply. Despite his internal struggles, Myles was a dedicated animal lover and a person who prioritized the well-being of others. He recently completed his certification at a veterinary emergency hospital and was working toward his goals.
In the aftermath of his death, his mother intends to address the lack of hope and opportunity she sees affecting young people today. She emphasizes that mental health is a priority that requires consistent support. Her goal is to shift conversations around these struggles from shadows into the open.
Family members and friends celebrated Myles in late July. They now encourage donations to causes Myles valued, including LGBTQ+ rights, environmental advocacy, immigration support, and animal welfare organizations like the Lucky Dog Refuge. Carolyn hopes that by sharing these details, she can prevent other families from facing similar grief.
