Zion Dixon, a local occupational therapist, launched Empower Therapy Services to address a critical gap in support for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in North Idaho. While many pediatric clinics serve younger children, Dixon identified that individuals transitioning into adulthood often lack access to the specialized care they need to build independence. His practice brings occupational and speech therapy directly into homes and community settings to help clients master life skills.

After graduating from the University of Idaho in 2022 and gaining experience in both school districts and specialized recreation programs, Dixon started his own practice in August 2023. He recognized that the standard skilled nursing environment did not match his professional goals. By shifting his focus to developmental disabilities, he created a model that helps young adults move through their post-education years into the workforce with more confidence.

Today, the practice operates with a team of occupational therapy assistants and a speech therapist, handling over 30 sessions each week. To meet growing demand, Dixon is currently expanding his staff with additional therapists joining the team in September. The practice accepts insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid, provided patients have a doctor's referral for services.

Empower Therapy Services currently serves clients across Kootenai and Bonner Counties. By meeting patients in their own environments, the team helps turn daily challenges into achievable goals. Those looking for more information or a consultation can find details on their website or by calling their local office.
