Beta Bugs and FreezeM have launched a collaboration to advance Black Soldier Fly production in Europe. This partnership merges the HiPer-Fly genetics developed by Beta Bugs with the specialized PauseM suspended neonate system from FreezeM. The goal is to provide insect producers with a reliable, high-performance input that improves overall yield and production consistency.
Beta Bugs brings over 45 generations of genetic selection to the agreement. Their HiPer-Fly strain has demonstrated superior performance in independent trials. By integrating this with the PauseM technology, the companies offer a standardized product that maintains high survival rates and extended shelf life for commercial operators.
Operations are already underway at a dedicated breeding hub in Germany, operated by FreezeM and their partner Hermetia Baruth GmbH. This facility will serve as the primary site for the development and testing of the new genetic line. The two companies have begun a program of controlled trials to validate the performance of the HiPer-Fly-PauseM combination under actual production conditions.
These trials are scheduled to continue through the remainder of 2026. The objective is to establish a scalable pathway for delivering consistent biological inputs to the market. Full commercialization of the joint product is expected to follow in 2027, marking a significant step for insect farming in Europe.
