Relativity Space expands to Space Coast, expected to bring thousands of jobs

Relativity Space is expanding its operations to the Florida Space Coast, marking a significant milestone for the region. This development brings infrastructure for rocket launch and testing to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The project expects to generate thousands of high-skill and high-wage jobs through 2034.

Governor Ron DeSantis confirmed the move this week. Relativity Space focuses on the production of reusable rockets and currently manages engineering or office operations in California, Washington, and Mississippi. The expansion strengthens the commercial spaceflight sector in Florida by adding another major player to the local manufacturing base.

Titusville Mayor Andrew Connors highlighted the impact of this investment on the local economy. He noted that anchor companies like Relativity Space attract a web of suppliers and downstream businesses, which creates an exponential effect on the area. This influx of industry activity provides stable career paths for the next generation of residents in Brevard County.

The company is currently preparing for the debut of its Terran R rocket, which is targeted for the end of this year. Additionally, Relativity Space entered a partnership with NASA in June to support Mars science missions. The company will provide the spacecraft and operations to send NASA payloads for atmospheric research on the Red Planet.
