Wildlife conservation in West Bengal just got a significant upgrade. Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan shared footage showing how artificial intelligence is protecting both elephant populations and local communities. The incident took place near Jaldapara when surveillance cameras equipped with image recognition software identified a herd of elephants moving toward a village at 12:32 am.
The system automatically sent an alert to the Division Control Room the moment the animals were detected. This rapid notification allowed a response team to arrive within fifteen minutes. By monitoring the herd in real time using night-vision sensors, the staff successfully guided the animals away from the human settlement, preventing a potentially dangerous conflict.
This method is part of a growing shift in how forest officials manage animal territory. Rather than relying solely on manual patrols or reactive measures, departments are now using automated technology to identify movement patterns before encounters occur. The video demonstrates how these tools work under low-light conditions, providing clear visuals for the response teams on the ground.
